Anis Kay has been steeped in coffee since the mid-1980s, when he first began working on plantations straight out of school. From there, he spent years learning the ropes at a local coffee exporter—gaining hands-on experience in both factory and office operations—before taking the leap and establishing his own mill in the early 2000s.
Today, Anis farms in PNG’s lush, mountainous Jiwaka region, known for its rich volcanic soils, steady rainfall, and cool, high-altitude climate (with temperatures ranging between 16°C and 24°C). His coffee is grown mostly under shade, allowing the cherries to ripen slowly and develop complex, nuanced flavours.
Meticulous in his methods and passionate about quality, Anis has built a reputation for producing consistently exceptional coffee. His lots are processed at the Minji Wet Mill, carefully graded, and packed for export—ready to impress on the world stage.
