Jambaló is a municipality as well as an Indigenous reservation in Colombia. Located in the central Andes mountain range in the north eastern department of Cauca, roughly eighty kilometres north of the city of Popayán, the department capital. The majority of its inhabitants are of the Nasaand Misak ethnic group.

Jambaló is the source of innumerable water springs, the main one is the Jambaló River which has two main tributaries, the Barondillo and the Ovejeras River which flow into the Palo River.

This region used to be a stronghold of violence in Colombia but it’s been slowly changing to become a peaceful territory with coffee replacing previous illicit crops. The change, with extensive help from government and support agencies has brought peace and stability to the area.

The department of Cauca borders the departments of Valle del Cauca, Tolima, Huila, Caquetá, Putumayo and Nariño. The region has numerous rainforests, basins and volcanoes, as well as natural parks and a diversity of crops.
