A very fine coffee requiring medium roasting to maintain the delicate flavour profiles and floral aromatics that typify this growing region. Careful farm management, shade grown and rainforest maintenance produce an impressive, refined cup profile. Colombian coffee typically produces quite a complex cup, but hazelnut and caramel are the major flavours distinguishing this bean making it suitable as both a medium or dark roast.

 

Cupping: Black currants, dark chocolate, plum, complex 

Type: Arabica

Regions: Tolima 

Producer: Certified organic growers in the region

Harvest: April - December

Varietals: Typica, Catura, Colombia & Castio

Altitude: 1600 - 1950 MASL

Fantastic Beans

IMO these beans make the most delightful, "City" roast coffee.

My first ever roasting of coffee and I couldn't be more happy with the outcome. I will try various roasting styles however, I'm sure I'll not go back to commercially roasted coffee again.

Very Good Organic Coffee

The Excelso has soft sweet flavours of honey and toffee, with a crisp apple acidity,

syrupy body and a creamy cocoa finish. I roasted the bean to a Full City roast and

that brings out the sweetness. A great coffee bean.
